Almost like vacation

Robi and I went downstairs for danishes yesterday morning.
The cafe was playing catchy calypso music.
The kind where your hips start to gyrate independently.
I began to cha-cha-cha, still high from my Spanish class.

The guy beside me laughs.
I turned to him.
Eyes wide, big smile, cha-cha-cha-ing.
"It's just like being on vacation!"

He looks at me and very firmly says
"No. It. Is. Not!"

I stop dancing.

"You're right," I said, glancing at my watch. "It's 10 am. If I was on vacation, I'd have a drink in my hand."

He wags a finger at me.
Nods sagely.
"Exactly!"

Speaking of vacations...I see you used to be in the funeral business. I used to be a travel agent for American Express (many decades ago) and I took a group of Funeral Home directors to Acapulco and also some execs from "Major Caskets" company. Once you get these guys away from the funeral home...they go nuts! I never heard to many "dead"jokes in my life!

Dan: Yeah, we're all a little nuts. I have yet to meet a funeral director who doesn't have a warped sense of humour. It keeps us sane. It's such a stressful industry that when you decompress, the steam really flies.

But I love that you felt happy enough to be on vacation! I get excited about little stuff, too. I consider it a gift.

Thanks for stopping by today!
