Two thumbs up ... well, maybe just one

Last night on the way home, I slammed my thumb between two doors at Union Station. The genius who designed the doors didn't consider that when these adjacent doors open back to back, they actually collide with each other.

My hand was in between.

Believe it or not, I didn't yell, didn't even flinch. Somehow I managed to hold it together until I got home, at which point the shock wore off and I fell apart. Crying, whining, the whole nine yards. The Husband took good care of me, though. Got me a bowl of ice to soak my thumb in. Made me dinner and let me watch Buffy all night long (I'm starting Season 7).

I'm right-handed, so getting ready for work today was fun. You don't really appreciate how much you need your thumb until it's decommissioned. And typing ... well. Let's just say that this post is taking me much longer to type than usual!

Let me tell you that this thing hurts like a sonnova! It's swollen from the knuckle up. Half the nail is black and the rest of the thumb is turning a lovely shade of purple. I have a separate pulse in my right thumb now and it's throbbing to its own drummer. It's a wicked drum solo. I may go on tour.

Ain't she a beaut?!

I'm over here, hopping up and down in my seat with sympathy pains! Do you think you need a doctor to look at it? Probably nothing they could do, though, huh? Oh, ouchie, ouch, ouch!!!

I learned long ago to keep my hands away from all hazardous situations.
When I was four, I slammed my right pointer finger in the door of the Cougar (yes, the car, not the animal). My nail still grows funny on that hand...
Then, when I was seven, I was crawling on the stove and my mom had just taken the pancakes off the burner. I had a spiral shaped scar on my right palm for years.
Now, I mostly keep my hands tucked safely in my lap.

Awww, Husband is so nice! I would have to lose both hands and a foot above the ankle for that kind of treatment!

owwwie MoMo, that is awwwwwwwwwwwwwful! it looks like you might need to poke it with a pin to let some blood out, the throbbing is pressure built up underneath almost like a blood bubble or blister on the skin, but up under the nail. that too sounds like it would hurt bad. take a couple of shots of something first, soak that baby in ice to numb it, then have honey do it, zip zap done. it should heal really faster that way. no more big blob of bood under it. may not have to lose the nail either. soak it in epsom salts a couple of times a day, in hot as you can stand water. should come along nicely. salt does wonders. bless your little bloggy thumbnail!!! kiss kiss.....Jo (btw the kiss is for the boo boo, silly girls!) didn't want you all getting any ideas, momo and I we like MEN!!! lol!!
